This two day course is designed for those who want to take it to the next level and is more technical based. The essentials for leading canyons, performing rescues and being self-sufficient in harder grade canyons. If you are already an advanced level canyoner and want to focus on the technical rescue systems and swift water rescue, or are looking for a customised or tailor made course, look no further!!

WHATS COVERED

  • Technical gear used in swift water rescue

  • Rope handling and knots, bends and hitches used in swift water rescue

  • Simple rescues with the gear you already have

  • White water combat, look after yourself so you can help others

  • Sieve, undercut and siphon approach and extraction

  • Water fall rescue techniques in flow

BEFORE YOU COME

PARTICIPANTS NEED TO HAVE –

  • Attended a ‘Canyon 1 Course’ and completed at least 5 moderate canyons since

  • High level of fitness – Hiking in, training hard then swimming out!

  • Good swimming ability – We will be be swimming in and around grades 2/ 3 and scarily close to some grade 4/5!!

  • First Aid training recommended

CANYONING GEAR

  • Throw bag

  • Personal first aid kit

  • Headlamp + spare batteries

  • Suitable 40 litre canyon pack

YOU NEED TO BRING –

  • Climbing or whitewater helmet

  • Life jacket – whitewater style with releasable chest harness

  • Neoprene socks

  • Neoprene hat

  • 4-5 mm wetsuit

  • Suitable canyoning footwear

  • Harness with standard canyon rigging

  • 5-6 meter length of webbing plus x1 carabiner

  • Knife

  • Diving mask

For this course we encourage students to bring their own equipment.
However,  we can provide equipment for $50 per day if needed. Let us know.
