LENGTH: 4 days total – 2 days as a formal course and 2 trips in an observation and training role on two of our commercial tours

  • Commercial canyoning processes and  the typical industry protocols / day to day stuff all companies do.

  • Risk management and the legal stuff all commercial guides should be aware of.

  • Customer interaction – briefs, nature interpretation, customer care and more.

BEFORE YOU COME

PARTICIPANTS NEED TO HAVE –

​

  • Attended a ‘Guide the Canyon’

​

  • Attended a‘River Rescue for Canyons’ course

​

  • OR attended an Outdoor Education certificate course then attended a 'Learn to Canyon'course.

​

  • OR hold a current advanced swift water rescue course e.g US 26513

​

  • First Aid training recommended

CANYONING GEAR

YOU NEED TO BRING –

​

  • Climbing or whitewater helmet

  • Life jacket – whitewater style

  • Neoprene socks

  • Neoprene hat

  • 4-5 mm wetsuit

  • Suitable canyoning footwear

  • Harness with:
    – 2 cows tails (lanyards, daisy chains)
    – figure-8 descenders X2
    – suitable ascenders
    – 3 locking carabiners to go with the above
    – ideally the harness has a pvc seat

  • knife

  • diving mask

  • throw bag

  • Personal first aid kit

  • Headlamp + spare batteries

  • Suitable 40 litre canyon pack

For this course we encourage participants to bring their own equipment.
However,  we can provide equipment for $50 per day if needed. Let us know.
